Creating A Coaching Culture

Management studies have shown that upskilling and reskilling have become top priorities today and in the next normal. Leaders and managers are required to apply coaching and inspiring communication rather than controlling and commanding if we want to engage our team members to contribute and collaborate with excellence. 

 

Coaching culture happens when leaders and managers use coaching naturally as a part of day-to-day conversations and employee-manager development conversations. Leaders and managers also find the meaningfulness of coaching and craft their winning teams through purposeful coaching conversations.

  • Provide support through learning ecosystem, coaching skills mentoring, and community practices

  • Reinforce, recognize and update the needed tools

  • Conduct a mini-survey on quantity and quality of manager-employee coaching conversation, monthly or quarterly

  • Include the question about the "leader-as-coach" style in the regular employee engagement survey - to understand if employees have experienced their managers' style as a coach.

  • Survey customers, outside stakeholders, and people from other organizations if they experience the feeling of partnership when dealing with your people.

  • Reinforce, recognize and reward the successful teams who applied coaching with excellent results based on your set ROE.
